Waiting out the weather

Katie and I are passing another damp evening away by curling up on the couch and relaxing.  It's been several days of this type of lifestyle.  We're not complaining.  But, we remain anxious for the excitement which awaits on the horizon.  Katie remains in great spirits.  She reminds me that this is not a time we should wish to accelerate.  There will come a day, it may be soon or it may be 20 to 30 years from today, when we will reminisce about this time.  We will look back to these very weeks and think about how great they were.  We'll think about how excited we were, how blessed we were.  How we were so unaware of the joys that were being ready to be bestowed on us.  And that is not something we should wish away now.  She helps to settle me.  So tonight our "New Roof" remains under construction.

Baby Boy Update

Our boy had us excited the other night.  Late Sunday, or rather really early Monday morning Katie experienced a few  contractions.  We both stayed home monday anticipating his arrival.  But it was not to be.  He must have decided he was comfortable where he was.  If he needs to extend his reservations for a few days, thats okay with us.  Things have settled back down since that time.  Katie is doing well.  She is trying to stay relaxed and taking walks in the evening.  We appreciate the well wishes and we'll keep everyone informed as things progress.

Baby Roof Preparation

I have no idea what the heck I'm doing so bear with me................ This blog is being created for our baby boy. Katie and I have traveled a long, exciting road over the last several months. Now, we are quickly approaching the birth of our son. I wanted a way to document and memorialize this amazing time. We have so many friends and family members who have loved and supported us and we wanted a way to share this with you as well.

Over the last few months Katie and I have had time to think about this moment in our lives. We've had time to plan for this event. And through all the thinking, and praying, and planning each day brings a sense of excited anticipation.

It's been a beautiful journey.......and it truely has just begun. Katie has been a beautiful mother to be. Each day I hear her in quiet moments talking to our son. She rubbes her belly, she tells him about his dad and how much I already love him. She tells him all about his new best friend, Charlie and how they will have so much fun playing together. I have found her at times standing in front of the mirror with a hand below her belly and a hand above her belly. She'll just stand there with her head just barley to the side. And shes not looking at herself. You can see her staring at our son, as if she sees him in the reflection, held tight to her body. I can see how wonderful of a mother she is going to be. I am truely blessed to call her my wife.

As for me.......I've been in the preparation frame of mind. The funny thing about that though.........I feel like I've done a lot but, I look around and it doesn't look like much. And in the end I still feel like theres a ton more to do. I've had people tell me that this is not abnormal. However, as the dust settles I do beleive we are well prepared. We have our crib in place and ready. We have our bassenett in place and ready. We have our nursing chair in place (but not ready yet). And we have our baby boy's changing table, clothes, health products, etc. all in place and ready.

We've made several weekly doctor visits and at the last visit this week our doctor told us to make an appointment for next week but, he doesnt expect us to make it to that appointment. That was exciting to hear. We've taken a tour of the hospital where we'll deliver. It was eye opening to see the labor rooms where we'll deliver and the maternity rooms we'll stay in afterwards. As if this miraculous event needed to be anymore authentic, this made it real!

We are heading into the weekend and who knows what the good Lord has planned for us. If it is time for our son to join our family and be welcomed into this world we will hopefully share that news with you.

Love
